Loving Yourself to Great Health...(Book Review)

Posted on September 4, 2014 at 5:35 AM

Louise Hay Author and Inspirational Speaker, and Founder of the love yourself movement that blossomed with her support group Hay Rides, a support group for people living with H.I.V or AIDS…is at it again…this time helping us love ourselves to great health.

Louise Hay believes that we as individuals have the power to heal ourselves, and in her new book “Loving Yourself to Great Health: Thoughts & Food-the Ultimate Diet” is her way of letting us all know that we are not powerless when it comes to being healthy. So mark your calendars...this book will be released on October 7, 2014.

The book is separated into two parts, Part One teaches you how to love yourself to good health by eating and thinking through a 7 step process, which is divided into chapters. Part Two, is loving yourself and loving your kitchen with yummy healthy recipes.

Anyone who is familiar with Louise Hay knows… that this is not your average diet book… and this is definitely not your average cookbook. Louise Hay, along with Ahlea Khadro and Heather Dane, her go to natural health and nutrition experts, came together in this amazing book to give us the secrets to overcoming any health obstacle. Filled with recipes, menus, affirmations and words of wisdom, this book is about becoming in tune with your mind, body, and spirit…and healing yourself…by getting to know yourself.

Now with any self-help book…what you put into it…is what you get out of it. If you start out with a negative, you will end up with…a negative. If you start with a positive, will ultimately end up with a positive.

This book is not about blaming yourself, it’s about taking accountability for your actions that ultimately leads to the deterioration of your physical health, as well as, your mental well being. Sometimes we can’t always identify with the physical or mental pain of another person because we are not walking in their shoes…sometimes the shoes is too tight and other times its too loose. With that said… if you feel happy and healthy…this book is not for you…you will not find this book beneficial… if it doesn’t speak to you.

However this book is really for those individuals who need to jumpstart their internal battery and love themselves back to a healthier version of themselves. While some may not believe in a holistic approach to curing themselves, there is proof that it sometimes work. Now I am not saying that this book will cure world hunger and eliminate all the disease in the world…but what I am saying… your mind, body, and spirit is a mirror that reflects the environment around you. You have the tools and this book is the manual that will teach how to use those tools to change your world… for the better.

Although I am not new to affirmations… because of my Buddhist Practice, I am new to the concept of repeating those affirmations in front of a mirror, a method that was introduced to me in this book. One particular affirmation in this book spoke to me, and I repeated this affirmation for one week… in front of a mirror… in order to give you my full review of this book. I also tried Louise Hay's go to bone broth "Louise's Favorite Bone Broth or Vegetable Broth" and the "Quick Simple Bok Choy Soup".

The recipes were amazing.... And....instead of me giving you my review about how I felt after doing the affirmation for one week, I am going to share the affirmation with you and ask you to do it yourself in front of the mirror for one week…and provide me feedback via twitter, facebook, or my blog…it can be a private or a public post…the decision is yours.

I think this is a great book to have, whether you just follow Part One… or Part Two… or Both… you are definitely on the path to a healthier you…And I highly recommend this book.
