FLAWLESS A Hostile Beauty Novel (Book Review)

Posted on August 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Every now and then this single gal needs a chick lit to keep her company on a Saturday night… so with all my essentials on hand…wine glass filled with Pellegrino, bowl filled with cheddar popcorn, and my favorite Pashmina…it was time for some me time…and the novel “Flawless A Hostile Beauty Novel by author Jan Moran is exactly what this fashionista, foodie, and hopeless romantic needed.

I was hooked from the very first page and every page was better than the page before it, and this single gal found herself reading the entire novel in one night. Flawless is the first book in the Hostile Beauty series…and the series is definitely off to a great start.

Flawless is a novel about friendship, the beauty industry, being an entrepreneur, and family. As a result of her parents’ death, Veronica the main character, who is engaged to be married to the handsome Derrick, is running the family business and taking care of her younger twin sisters and her grandmother. A successful business woman with equally successful friends, Veronica’s company is now in financial trouble and now facing a hostile takeover by someone you would least expect in this novel…

I don’t want to spoil it for you….

In the beginning of the novel readers are introduced to Lance, a very handsome chef. I have to admit…I fell in love with Lance from the moment he whipped out… his kitchen knives. Yes, food is the way to my heart…and Chef Lance left me saying…Derrick who??? Nonetheless, when Veronica’s world is turned upside down, she is supported by her friends.

There are so many things that I enjoyed about this novel, but what I enjoyed the most was that the women in this story were strong, educated...business women, and men did not define who the women were in this story.

The men were great accessories to this story, like the perfect pair of stiletto heels, and just like a good pair of shoes…. they were important… but replaceable. It was so refreshing to see women standing on their own two feet and not falling apart or stabbing each other in the back over a man…to often stories are written in such a way that women can’t function without a man in their life, or even run a successful business company and keep a family together.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed this novel and I am pretty sure you will too, this is the perfect book to start off that book club you were thinking about, this book was a perfect ending to a perfect evening…like a good night kiss after that perfect first date…Flawless.
